Most functional objects remain incomplete to me until they are used. Pottery in use brings art into our daily lives. Most objects I make evolve from my daily experience of preparing food. In the following pages are some recipes that I hope include both nourishment and pleasure.
Chocolate Almond Cookies
1 cup honey
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup dairy, rice or soy milk
1/4 cup butter
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup almond or peanut butter
1/2 cup whole almonds
2 tsp vanilla
In a pot on the stovetop cook honey, cocoa, milk and butter over medium heat until mixture boils. Stirring constantly, cook for two minutes.
Remove pot from heat and stir in nut butter, vanilla, rolled oats and almonds.
Drop by spoonful onto waxed paper.
Store in the fridge for up to a week.
Oatmeal Almond Raisin Cookies
Wet Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup honey
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Dry Ingredients:
2 cups flour (wheat, spelt, millet, etc or combination of)
2 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup coconut
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cup raisins
1 1/2 cups whole almonds
Mix wet ingredients together.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Combine wet and dry ingredients together. Drop onto lightly oiled cookie sheet.
